Spa Day Recap
The girls all gathered for a Spa Day at the Doolittle’s home on Saturday the 20th while the boys were off paintballing. The morning started with some group time spent in discussion about God’s design when He commissioned us to “glorify God in our bodies” (1 Corinthians 6:20). We talked about the purpose of a Spa and how our culture views pampering self. It was agreed that God gives us the responsibility to care for our bodies without being full of care for our bodies. Let me explain. In Philippians 4:6 Paul wrote to “be carful for nothing but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your request be made known to God”. The meaning of the word here “carful” is full of care, synonymous with being anxious, worries, stressed, etc about things but instead to pray and “cast all our care on Him” (1 Peter 5:7). However, we are to care for ourselves – we are to eat so we don’t starve, dress so we don’t freeze, sleep so we don’t wig out, exercise so we don’t’ blow up, etc. Paul wrote to the Corinthians that we are in fact to glorify God in our bodies. How do we do this? It is done in how we eat, dress, sleep, etc. We glorify Him when we dress modestly. We glorify Him when we take good care of our bodies because our bodies are His dwelling place, the temple of His Holy Spirit.
After our time together we played a great ‘get-to-know-you’ game where everyone shares 2 things about themselves that are true (that no one knew) and one thing that is false. It is the job of the group to decide which thing was made up. We learned a lot about where girls were born, their favorite colors, their hobbies, how many brothers and sister they have, etc. It was fun.
Next we sat down to a scrumptious meal provided by the moms and counselors of salads, tea sandwiches, and mini scones and cupcakes. During this time each girl was given a goodie bag filled with spa day delights (nail care kit, comb, headband, deodorant, lotion, heel scrubber, lufa, gum, makeup samples, etc.). We headed into the spa room early in the afternoon. The girls were split into groups of 4 and the group rotated between a nail care station, hair station, make up station and resting station laden with fruit treys, cheese and crackers and cucumber slices for the eyes. Each girl spent time one on one with a hair stylist (Selby Swain or Thea Wraith) and with a make up artist (Danielle Toscanini). The April Rehberg took each one for a special photo shoot. The whole day was a lot of fun and we have the pictures to prove it! Check out the entire album on the girls website.
